2025 Nagasaki Kunchi Festival, Nigiwamachi, Big Catch Celebration Ebisu Boat @ Suwa Shrine, right side box seat A-8
We would like to introduce you to the last lively performance of the Suwa Shrine dedication dance on October 7th!
Conclusion: "Odorimachi was the last show at Suwa Shrine on the day before October 7th, so we had to respond to the many encores of 'Come on!' Thank you for your hard work 😆"
We will explain in detail about the performance "Big Catch
Celebration Ebisu Boat" dedicated by Nigimachi at the Nagasaki Kunchi
Festival in 2025. As it was the last dance town at Suwa Shrine on the
day before October 7th, we were so grateful for the many encore calls of
"Come on!"
The last umbrella pole also spins well!!
▼Nagimachi "Big Catch Celebration Ebisu Boat"
Nigimachi's "Big Catch Celebration Ebisu-bune" is the only
boat-shaped performance among the Nagasaki Kunchi votive dances with the
theme of "fishing in the sea."
This performance literally celebrates a big catch and
depicts the treasure ship carrying Ebisu bringing good fortune!
A gorgeous treasure ship (Ebisu-bune) carrying a large Ebisu
doll is pulled around. The boat is lavishly decorated, with ornaments
made from glass beads on top, and its dynamic movements make the
spectators feel the joy and excitement of a bountiful catch.
Many children participated in the Nigirimachi performance!
Including the musicians, many children appeared, adding a cute and
lively touch to the festival.
The movements of the people pulling the boats and those
dancing on board express gratitude and joy for the bountiful catch, and
are very heroic and spectacular.
Position in Kunchi
The Nagasaki Kunchi dedication dance is performed by each of
the 58 dancing towns, which take turns performing it every seven years,
and Nigiwa Town will be performing as one of the six dancing towns in
2025.
The "Big Catch Celebration Ebisu Boat" attracts many
spectators with its dynamic energy, large number of participants, and a
theme that evokes the essence of Nagasaki's port town.
From the box seats at Suwa Shrine, the crowd must have
enjoyed the lively votive dance of Nigirimachi, accompanied by
enthusiastic shouts of "Bring it on!"
It was a wonderful experience where I could feel the excitement of Nagasaki Kunchi!
Truly, every dance town was amazing!
