Nagasaki Kunchi! Introducing the climax of the climb up Prefectural Office Hill!
This time, we visited the prefectural office on Sakadori to see the closing ceremony of the 2023 Nagasaki Kunchi!
Conclusion: ``The best way to see the Nagasaki Kunchi climb is from the old Prefectural Office Hill or from the Nagasaka of Suwa Shrine! The scene where they run up with all their might is truly a sight to behold!''
Nagasaki Kunchi's ``Oagari'' is held on the 9th, the last day of the 3-day Nagasaki Kunchi festival (October 7th, 8th, and 9th every year). This is an event where the original mikoshi returns.
Among these, the Old Prefectural Office Hill is a hill that is known as a sightseeing spot, and it is famous for running up this slope at full speed at the climax of the climb, and is a sightseeing spot that many people visit every year!
Former Prefectural Office Hill is a steep slope with a total length of about 100 meters and a height of about 20 meters.
The bearers perform a ritual called ``Morikomi,'' in which they carry the mikoshi up the hill and run as fast as they can.
Morikomi is a ritual that increases the spiritual power of the mikoshi and prays for people's health and happiness, and is a must-see event!
This time, I toured from the former prefectural office building Sakadori, so I would like to introduce it to you!

First, a tengu wearing a mask walks in front.
Afterwards, the stand on which the mikoshi is placed is carried out one by one.
Then a horse passes by.
Everyone is buzzing.
It’s here, it’s here! !
Then, when the three mikoshi arrive on the slope, they rush up at once! !
It was really powerful and amazing! ! !
Be sure to come to Nagasaki II to see the scene where you run up the slope of the old prefectural office building, or the scene where you run up the long slope of Suwa Shrine!
There will also be a "drop off" from 13:00 on October 3rd.
Odari, on the other hand, is an event in which the god descends from Suwa Shrine to the place of travel.
This is also a must-see, so you might benefit if you watch it together!
Thank you for reading until the end!
